Extensive shooting practice

Learn about safe weapon handling from the ground up with our structured course, culminating in the Austrian weapon’s handling license (Waffenführerschein).

In this one-day course, you will try the three main firearms categories:

  • Handguns (pistols and revolvers)
  • Rifles (precision and sniper rifles shooting bullets)
  • Shotguns (clay pigeon shooting)

In addition, get extensive background information on the Austrian weapons law.

At the end of the day, you will know if shooting is great fun or just scary 😉

What you will learn

The course is structured into four modules, which can be booked separately.

• Austrian gun handling license “Waffenführerschein” (theory)
• static shooting training with handguns (required for the Waffenführerschein)
• static shooting training with precision rifles
• dynamic shooting training with shotguns

The schedule is listed below.

The listed prices include ammunition. In case you will bring your own ammo, rebates are possible.

An a-la-carte meal with a beverage is included in the all inclusive price. Absolutely no alcoholic drinks on site.

Module 1 – Austrian gun handling license (theory)

To acquire a handgun in Austria, you need to prove knowledge of the law, safe storage and practical shooting experience, as well as psychological accountability. The latter is tested in a psychological exam conducted by licensed doctors. The prior is covered by the so-called Waffenführerschein.

Once you have both, then you can apply for a firearms license, called Waffenbesitzkarte, with the local police. After that, you are allowed to buy (usually up to two) handguns in Austria.

This module is ideal for beginners, and is also mandatory for handgun owners at regular intervals.

What you will learn

  • Weapons law
  • Technical basics of firearms and ammunition
  • Safe handling

This is where things get more fun – learn to correctly handle and fire handguns.

What you will learn

  • Shooting on the range up to 25 meters
  • Safe handling
  • Correct aiming with open sights
  • Ergonomical shooting stances
  • Loading, reloading
  • Restoring safety after shooting
  • Clearing stoppages

Module 3 – Shooting training with rifles

While shooting with rifles on the range is more relaxed than firing handguns, it will bring you face to face with the limits of your concentration: Aim steadily at 100 or up to 300 meters.

What you will learn

  • Rifle shooting on the range of up to 300 meters (depending on the shooting range)
  • Safe handling
  • Ergonomical shooting while seated
  • Correct aiming with optics
  • Shooting at long range
  • Loading, reloading and unloading
